Hey Coffee Lovers,
We hope you all had a great weekend! Here's the latest at Birch:
Please join us this week as we continue our daily meditation Monday through Friday at 12:00 noon. The first 15 minutes are guided and the last 45 are dedicated to silent meditation. What a great way to get away from it all even if it's just for 5 minutes! Hope to see you today at noon.
Saturday night (2/6) we'll be having a night of acoustics with Tommaso Antico who'll be playing covers and originals in the library at 9 pm. This event is free to all who care to attend.
Saturday and Sunday we have brunch with food and drink specials. But, please don't forget, you can come in at any time, any day and always get one of our delicious homemade waffles, with our special homemade selection of butters. The espresso butter practically melts in your mouth!
And...... Valentine's Day is right around the corner so stay tuned for the special night we'll be hosting.
Don't forget, you can always follow us on Twitter or become a fan on Facebook for chances to win free stuff!
All the best,
Birch Coffee
Hi. Yes, I know. It has certainly been a while since we last chatted. More than a month exactly. But, I have a few minutes so I'm gonna bring you up to speed.
First of all, I hope everyone had a lovely Christmas, Hannuka and I wish everyone a wonderful year ahead in 2010.
So, just a couple of updates. We are just days away from our liquor license so please pop in (probably next week) for a beer or a glass of wine and a delectable cheese plate. We were thinking about doing something New Year's eve but found out a bit late the latest on the liquor license. Instead, from 12 pm - 5 pm, we are going to close off the Library and use it for a 5 hour meditation. What better a way to spend the last few hours of the year reflecting on the year past and what to hope for in the future (sorry if my grammar is a bit off there).
On January 2nd and 3rd we're gonna be kicking up our Arrested Development marathon. How friggin cool is that? Watch all 53 episodes or just one. Will be awesome.
Things are really good though. Paul, Evan and I are working hard at making this place your place!
See ya in 2010.
Hi, so I don't want you all to think that I have been hiding. I certainly have been here. Busy, working, 14 hour days, 7 days a week. Loving every second of it. Dealing with everything from ordering, to payin bills to washing dishes when our runners "forget" that they are on the schedule. Its allllll good though. Today was a busy one. We had a nice big lunch rush.
Still some kinks being worked out which is always fun. Making sure the kitchen is settled and pumpin out food in a timely fashion, becoming an expert at buttering and cream cheesing bagels, things really couldn't be better. Well, it could be busier, but we're working on that.
Trance Thursdays have been pretty cool. Had some electronica cameos which is pretty friggin cool. And out meditations during the week have been picking up some steam.
Again, if I didn't clarify it, Paul and I couldn't be happier!!! Thank you all for your continued support.
Well, we are officially open for business and doin pretty well. Very happy. Each day has been better than the next. We're just trying to create a bit more of a buzz about the neighborhood, while managing the daily operations, and managing schedules, and keeping customers happy, and paying bills, and overseeing the kitchen, and making sure that the coffee is at its best. Always. So, a lot going on. I can't really speak for Paul, but I think it is safe to say for both he and I that we have never worked this hard in our lives.
I will say though with all the work, I go home at night and I am happily exhausted. There have been so many other jobs that I worked where I would go home and just be tired. Now, I feel as though I am just "happily tired". Life is fantastic. Everyone who has come into the shop has really been wonderful. We already have regulars and they are wonderful. I would say that the best part about this whole project is the people that we've met along the way and the people we are continually meeting on almost an hourly basis.
If you haven't come in yet, please do. The food is all ready to go and it is truly wonderful. Team Evan is doing a bang up job rockin out all the dishes in the kitchen. The muffins are killer. We have a sugar free goat cheese and parsley muffin. Who'd have thought!!
Anyways, back to the grind. No pun intended. See you soon.
Well, we're open. We've had a nice little hotel flow and are hoping it continues. This has been a long time in the making and we're incredibly excited. Tired, but overwhelmed with enthusiasm. We are hoping this turns in the great success we are working for. I got a couple of hours sleep last night and I don't think Paul got much more than that.
Please pop in and say hello and buy a coffee or two. I have some work to do but will post another blog later.
See ya soon.
