S.O.S. – Save Our Sharks!

Shark Week

Unless you’ve been hiding under a rock, you probably know it’s Shark Week! Television channels and different media outlets are abuzz with shark facts and information. These are beautiful creatures and though they might be scary their numbers are dwindling. This is why the Huffington Post has you covered with 5 Ways to Save our Finned Friends.

One foundation, Shark Savers, has dedicated itself to raising awareness about the diminishing numbers of sharks and educating divers and people alike about the true nature of these majestic creatures of the deep. In this video they interviewed many divers who have seen first hand the ever changing aquatic landscape and they are on a mission to bring back the sharks. Learn more about what you can do in your area to save this endangered species here.

And don’t forget the wise words of 30 Rock‘s Tracy Jordan and “live every week like it’s shark week.”

GoodSearch: A Charitable Search Engine

As we get into the holiday season, are you looking for new ways to give to charities?  Well, GoodSearch has an easy, quick, simple way to give more to your favorite charities.  Essentially it is a search portal to Yahoo but everytime you search they will donate a penny to your selected charity.

Recently they’ve expanded their giving. Similar to a Groupon, Goodsearch is offering hundreds of deals and discounts through their newly launched GoodShopping, GoodDining, and GoodCoupons.  When you make a purchase through the site they’ll donate a designated amount to your charity of choice.  As Thanksgiving comes upon us, keep GoodSearch in mind as you are purchasing holiday gifts on Cyber Monday and dining out with friends and family to give back to your favorite charities.

Marty McFly Returns for a Good Cause!

This is awesome on so many levels. Nike has teamed up with ebay and the Michael J. Fox Foundation in a genius promotion to benefit Parkinson’s research. Nike have recreated the futuristic shoe that Michael J. Fox’s character Marty McFly wore in the classic film Back to the Future II. The shoes are limited to 1500 pairs, and are only available through a special ebay auction. The best part is that all proceeds go to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research. If you’ve got the cash to splash (the first pair went for over $35,000!) follow the link and help support a great cause!
