The Grounds Coffee

Green: a color, the perception of which is evoked by light having a spectrum dominated by energy with a wavelength of roughly 520–570 nanometres.  It is not a primary color, however, it is created out of a mixture of yellow and blue; it is considered an additive primary color.

Green, in some cultures is the symbol of hope, growth and prosperity while in others, conversely, it is associated with sickness and envy.  The most common association however, is its link with nature.

When people think of "green" today, most think of the environment and what impacts, whether it be positive or negative, are being made on it.  A "green" paint is one without any toxic chemicals since little or no negative impact is being made on the surrounding air.  This innocent color has taken on a whole new meaning and is helping everyone from the homeowner to large corporations take part in this environmental revolution.

Green is no longer a trend. It is a way of living that will hopefully improve our lives "one less plastic bottle in a landfill" at a time.

Birch Coffee has taken this initiative and gotten on board with a number of green practices to try to let its customers and fans know that one person (or business) can actually make a difference.  The more coffee we buy from sustainable farms, the less is being bought from farms that harbor unsafe working conditions and non-sustainable cultivation practices.  And, we swear, no turtles were harmed either in the harvesting of the Birch Blend.

All of Birch's food and produce comes from local farms and growers who use environmentally friendly and safe practices.  Our Chef, Evan Madden-Peister has been studying food and designing recipes for several years.  His dedication to such practices is evident by merely glancing at our menu.  He has taken many different flavors and mixed them all just right to give our customers a wide variety of choices without straying too far from our focus.  We are confident that this care and attention to detail will keep our customers happy and continually trying something new without ever being disappointed.

In addition to our food and coffee, we will also be serving local wines, beers, and cheeses that use natural or organic cultivation procedures.  And, any food or waste will be recycled or sent to the closest composting location.

We are really proud of what we have put together and we believe that you will want to join our family and community and let people know that simply being conscious of your surroundings can make all the difference.

Thank you.
